Perustuu DC Comics (tarkemmin Vertigo comics) sarjakuvaan. Vertigo tehtiin DC Comics alle siksi, että sarjakuvissa voisi olla enemmän väkivaltaa yms. aikuisten kamaa.

For those who have never read it, Preacher centers on Jesse Custer, played by Dominic Cooper, a conflicted preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to literally find God. ​

Here's to hoping että on hyvä. Tarina on ainakin melkoisen mielenkiintoisen oloinen. Sarjakuvaa en ole itse lukenut.
Tosin, ainakin kommenttien perusteella sarja ei tunnu trailerin perusteella olevan sarjakuvan fanien mieleen. Sarjakuvia lukemattomana tuskin ongelma.
